rules, rules and more rules..
really.. polling is so restrictive.. while the candidates may say its up to our choice to vote.. is it really? wew are held by the throat when they use issues like, 'its for your future', 'think about bread and butter.' etc.. then really.. wat else can u put forth?
and now.. becox i am seeing things from the other side as well, meaning i no longer look at things from the voters point of view but also from the candidates' angle, i feel even more constrained. THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS WHICH I CANNOT SAY OR EXPRESS!! its not safe.. i cant even say, 'wat if the party loses?' oh no, when i said this.. i was given a look of, 'better watch it' expression.. but really, if u go to the polls, its a competition in short.. which otherwise means 50% win, 50% lose.
so....... i was thinkin of the side of wat would really happen to that area or in a larger aspect to Singapore if the opposition was to win.. would wat they promise come true? if we dont give them the chance.. we'll never know. but do we want to give them the chance? cox it means a 50% may happen, 50% may not. PAP, by large, have been delivering.. honestly.. on the other side of the coin, its because, no opposition was given a chance to show thatthey can deliver and will deliver. funnily, i was linking this with the time i got my driving licence.. i wanted to use the car, but was oppossed by the 'party' (dad and mummy). reason: not enough experience, a new driver, too young.. not safe.. ans: NO. my argument: if you dont let me try, i'll never get the experience. even if i get older and my licence yellow with time, without having a go with the car, i'll never have the experience and their reason 1 will always stay.. NOT FAIR...
CAN WE (the people) REALLY LET GO? DO WE DARE TO THREAD THIN WATER (to vote for the opposition)? DO WE WANT TO VOTE (for fun or for the sake of it)? OR ARE WE GETTING TOO COMFORTABLE?
this is the first time that i can vote.. the place i stay happens to be situated in a very ambiguous area.. just a stone throw away.. its marine parade, but my address states east coast.. but... the CVs and PAP manefesto i received was from Joo Chiat, which means, i fall under Joo Chiat (thats quite a distance from where i actually stay).. since its contested (all 9 single wards are contested), i get to vote.. really.. when do i have a chance again.. i was told by many seniors (people who had voted) to really cherish the moment i have at the polling station.. haha..
PAP would still be the overall winner.. they will still form the government. but can we deal with the opposition winning seats that mayb intimidating? so are we ready for a change??
questions and more questions.. one thing is for sure... we cant really discuss too many issues in the open.. cox Singapore is just not ready for such political outbursts from individuals...
